Biathlon
Biathlon is an Olympic sport that combines nordic skiing with precision marksmanship. After skiing a 1-2 km loop they attempt to fire their rifle at 5 targets closing the bullseye. The athletes will complete numerous loops depending on the length of race.
Athletes must control their breath rates while dealing with elevated heart rates in order to shoot accurately.
The unit supports both male and female teams. Through dedicated coaching and training 2659 has been extremely successful consistantly sending teams to compete at the regional (Provincial) level and recently has had members qualify to race at the National Championships.
The corps supplies the equipment and coaching for this team free for charge. All interested cadets are encouraged to particiapte.
